The Crusaders of Corruption

The journey of the crusaders of anticorruption in India is really very intriguing and amusing.

I am talking about the Gandhian and septuagenarian Anna Hazare and his prime disciple Arvind Kejriwal and their nonstop activities to keep themselves alive in the news channels.

Those who were awe struck by the sudden crusade started by this group and its salvos everyday were truly taken the India and the Indians abroad by storm and surprise. Soon the hunger strike turned into a comedy show and the bonhomie between Baba Ramdev and falling out created some hubbub. There was a brief silence for a while. Now Kejriwal claims that his path to eradicate corruption is different from that of Anna Hazare and so he had started a new battle to unravel at the rate of one scam a day. I am not sure when the curtains will come down.

In the meanwhile, the old patriot Anna also has fixed an office of his own with his band of followers at New Delhi and challenges if his Lokpal Bill is not passed before 2014 elections he will go on indefinite (!) hunger strike once again.

India and Indians are the strangest species in this whole world. The people and the so called netas vie with each other to fool the pubic in as many ways as possible. Corruption, scam and fight against these have become a popularity stunt.

So we are here to watch more dramas to be enacted by these leaders and their groups. If Anna Hazare and his staunch aide Kejriwal fall through within a year of their joint venture because of differences of opinion with no power one can imagine what they will do if they get power in their hands.

Let us wait for some more time so that Madam Kiran Bedi too starts something of her own to ‘fight against corruption’ in her own style.

Comment "India and Indians are the strangest species in this whole world. The people and the so called netas vie with each other to fool the pubic in as many ways as possible." Fooling the public becomes very clear in TV debates also with the objective of introducing confusion by wasting debate time, diverting the topic, interlock the debate with some other issue, etc etc. The host/anchor and debate participats should realize that they are being watched.
