March from Madison Square Gardon to Washington

For the first time an Indian Prime minister addressed the American Congress members on equal terms, lacing his speech with humour. Clapping 66 times and giving standing ovation many times the audience responded splendidly. Enough to make any Indian proud. He did not mince words when it came to counter terrorism in a concerted manner. The confidence, candid manner, clarity in thought and presentation make him an undisputed global leader in the making.Hats off to Narendra Modi for laying firm foundation for the future generations in India to raise their head and walk with high self-esteem.

It was in his earnestness in appealing to the American congress not to distinguish terrorism in terms of ‘good’ and ‘bad’ lies success of his view point. He was never apologetic nor critical of any individual or institution, though opportunities were there to exploit. Immature leaders alone stoop so low. Bringing in incidents across the nations, mentioning Afghanistan and intelligently conveying the need to isolate source of cross border terrorism in Indian sub-continent, he displayed how fast he has grown into a global leader whose words can not be dismissed easily. In focussing on the need to forget ‘moments of hesitations in history’ he has urged the American leadership to open new vistas of understanding and cooperation between the two great nations celebrating democratic values. By implication he also expressed his readiness to forget incidents or acts that might have gone against interests of India in the past.

Very intelligently he mentioned the contribution of the two nations in a mutually benefiting manner. By referring to the need to expand friendly ties beyond Indian boundaries, he spoke of the emerging potential of his nation in balancing acts of power game in Asia and beyond. With inclusion of Africa in his scheme of activities to be taken up,he might have won the hearts of millions of African Americans.

Dreams are essential for progress of any individual or nation. But to project one’s view clearly without looking over bearing, one needs gifts of an orator. Apart from Atal Bihari Vajpaye, Narendra Modi is the only Prime Minister who could acquit himself majestically in any group he is interacting with. Sense of pride is desirable. But if it is not seasoned by propriety, results will be always disastrous.

Narendra Modi has mastered the art of speaking frankly, without being brusque. His body language and expression lend grace to his address. Restraint is another remarkable trait he displays in his presentation. Nowhere one notices him carried away by rhetoric or emotions. Certainly he has attained the stature of a global leader, who is articulate, suave and diplomatic enough to put across his view fearlessly, not craving for favours from any one, however mighty one might be.Wherever he may speak, he makes all Indians present there and else where feel proud of being an Indian. He never resorts to gimmicks of self promotion. His presentations reveal his growing stature and maturity as a statesman.

In presenting picture of India as a potential region for investment in various fields for consolidating gains of freedom and democracy in both countries with shared practices and aspirations, he gave a sort of direction to American leaders to recognise emergence of India as a nation with bright future. Salute Indian Prime Minister for delivering a remarkable address without running down any other Indian leader. Propriety elevated his speech.
