The MP (I shall not utter his name because I hate to utter his name) from the ruling political party should be barred from attending at least a few parliamentary sessions for having misused his privilege as an elected public representative. West Bengal is doomed under the current ruling political party. I just wonder about the sanity of the people who voted the ruling political party in power. It was only blind hatred for the Communist Party (Marxist) that millions voted to power an unprincipled political party. This political party has tarnished West Bengal and Bengalees image. The malaise in West Bengal is deep-rooted. Add to that the deeds of Prakash Karat, (Sitaram Yechury has matured now to some extent), Biman Basu, et al. Communists are probably awed by Prakash Karat's English writing skills. Communists just lost an excellent person like Saifuddin Chowdhury because of Prakash Karat and Sitaram Yechury at one point of time. When will West Bengal get itself out from the morass is a big question. Nitish Kumar did bring out Bihar out of the morass but unwaranted politicking belittled Nitish Kumar too. When will our politicians will rise from petty politics and try to be statesmen?

The party will never expel such an MP; because MP, MLA, party worker like him are assets for the party. Actually, the party in power came to power because of hatred of a large section of people of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) because of their jingoistic trade-unionism, culture of Bandh, Gherao, and lack of sensitivity. But, at least, they had some philosophical moorings. The current political party in power every has bad qualities of the CPI(M) minus their philosophy. They have no principles and no qualms as regards sticking to power by hook and crook. Bengal politics reflects medieval politics. Bengalees under English people had a certain quality, which has worn off under misrule of decades. Bengalees habit of finding fault with others has given rise to a shame of a leader in West Bengal. It is not the fault of the leader; it is a just punishment for Bengalees. At least people like my father showed some wisdom that they came out of Bengal. Surely, we are better specimens of Bengalees, and not the Bengalees of West Bengal ( some of whom are quite accomplished no doubt; but a large section is worst specimen of Indians). When I have to say this, my heart bleeds, because I have always taken pride of my Bengalee lineage. |
