The Hari Putar Dialogues – 8
by
Rajesh Talwar
(Zee
News, Los Angeles, June 05: French first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy will
release her third album next month, her US label said on Wednesday. The
album, "Comme si de rien n`etait" (As if nothing had happened), comes on
the heels of a memoir to be published this week, in which Bruni details
her whirlwind romance with President Nicolas Sarkozy, her husband of
four months. In her book, "Carla and Nicolas, the real story," Bruni
praises not only her new husband’s "physique," but also his "five or six
brains.")
Putar:
According to a story in Zee News today, the French first lady Carla
Bruni-Sarkozy has just released a music album on the heels of a book.
Hari: That’s right, putar.
Putar: Carla is a model turned singer and she has married the French
President. It’s a case of a beautiful and glamorous woman who has
married a politician.
Hari: That is correct, putar.
Putar: In India too we have cases where a Bollywood actress has married
a cricketer.
Hari: That’s true, putar. There is Sangeeta Bijlani for you.
Putar: And we have a Bollywood actress who has married a rich
industrialist, Papaji?
Hari: There is Tina Ambani for you.
Putar: But I can’t think of a Bollywood actress who had married an
Indian politician.
Hari: Neither can I, putar.
Putar: Is that because their professions are so similar? Indian
politicians are always putting on an act, aren’t they?
Hari: I’m not so sure if that is the reason, putar. Politicians
all over the world are known to be good actors.
Putar: That’s true, Papaji. It could be because our politicians
don’t have a good physique. Most of the senior and important politicians
are out of shape.
Hari: Why should that be important, putar?
Putar: Because Carla says she admires her husband’s physique very much.
Hari: Well, then it could be the reason I guess, putar.
Putar: But she didn’t specify whether she considers his height to be a
part of his physique.
Hari: No, she didn’t, putar.
Putar: She may have actually made that statement just to indicate that
his height is not an issue with her. That may have been the real reason
behind her statement.
Hari: That’s true, putar. The media has been going on and on
about how he is shorter than her.
Putar: It’s actually very mature and sensible of her to try and set that
controversy to rest.
Hari: That’s true, putar. The media can sometimes make an issue
of nothing.
Putar: Tell me something Papaji?
Hari: Bol, putar?
Putar: Carla said that she also admires the French President’s five or
six brains.
Hari: That’s true, putar.
Putar: When Ravan is shown as having ten heads during Ram Lila, isn’t
that supposed to indicate that he had the brains of ten people.
Hari: Exactly right. Those ten heads are a symbol of his intelligence,
putar.
Putar: So does this mean that Sarkozy is at least half as intelligent as
Ravan.
Hari: I don’t know putar.
