Transkei Cows

The Transkei (situated between the Kei River in the South and Natal in the North) is one of the most beautiful places in South Africa.  It is also one of the poorest and most rural areas of South Africa.  It is home to many Xhosa speaking people and in many areas life continues unchanged as it did 100 years ago.

It is the only part of South Africa (that I know of) where cows frequent the beach, like tourists enjoying the sun, sand and sea.

I find cows really interesting animals.  After spending some time with them, as well as getting closer to them, they started to reveal themselves as regal, noble and even graceful creatures.  Perhaps I am beginning to understand why the cow is often regarded as a holy creation?
