From 'On the Journey of Life'

Like the showers of rain tears rolled down from the eyes of Mahua after reading the story 'Mahua' in the bimonthly magazine, 'The Hearts of the Readers'. 'Mahua' was celected as the best story from about three thousand stories submitted to 'The Hearts of Readers'. "Arun! I am fascinated by your unconditional love and cordiality. Perhaps I will get no opportunity to meet you. My greetings and heartiness will show you the way to the journey of your life. My prayer to God for you will shine your heart always. I hope you will not feel unhappy after getting the reply to your letter."- reading the words Mahua got surprised and could not hold tears.

In fact Arun, a son of a poor farmer once loved Mahua, the only daughter of the Panchayet Pradhan (chief). That was why he requested their common friend Srabanti to deliver a love letter to Mahua. After reading the letter from Srabanti Mahua became so angry and tore it into pieces. She also reacted by saying "How dare he love me being a beggar?" But Srabanti would know well that Arun loved Mahua badly. So Srabanti herself wrote a letter with some gallant lies and gave it to Arun by saying that it was written by Mahua.

The letter explained why Arun's love for Mahua would not succeed in reality. Arun read the letter repeatedly and understood that the words contained in the letter were right. Cherishing the gallant lies in his heart for six years Arun had walked on the way to the journey of his life. Finally he became an IPS officer.
