Restless Man

He was walking to and fro
Hands tucked inside his pockets;
His face was impassive;
As if nothing is bothering him.
But, there I saw a restless mind.
Very often, I found him
Whiling his time in a thoughtful manner,
As if there exists something
Beyond our eyes can see!

As our friendship flourished,
As the complexities of his thoughts
Started dawning on me,
I found an interesting man in him
In the dark alleys of life
To sever the chains of his birth,
Was impossible for him, and
He found himself shackled
In his thoughts…

Unable to free from these shackles,
He lives, in the cocoon of his thoughts,
Thinking about the years gone by, and
The challenges ahead…
Knowing the intricacies of his thoughts,
My heart cried out
For his solitary ‘soul’…
