Role-Play

Some people
Ask me
If all my
Poesies
Are my
Life’s
Stories…

Most of them
Are…
But many I also
Write…
Placing myself
In others’ lives
Seeing their
Perspectives,
Trying to
Become them
And writing
As if, they
Were me…

It’s not always
Easy…to visualise
Others’ problems…

There is a
Subtle -
Difference
Between
Empathy
And
Sympathy.

Yet I try to
Role-play
And see
How best
I can
Represent
Them to
Thee…

Do I succeed?
Not always…

But sometimes
Some people
Come up to me
And say…
They wonder why
My poetry reflects
Their life’s story…

Dear Flame Ji and Rupradha,

This also happens in our movies, plays and novels.

The maker / director / writer bases his creation on some real life incident and the protagonist plays the central character.

It could be a first person or a third person account.

But what really makes that depiction a success is how real or surreal it seems to us - does it impact us or does it become one of those many productions that come and go without touching us....

Thanks ever so much for sharing your thoughts. Nice to know you liked this composition :-)

Very nice descriptive sense .Aparnaji you are endowed with
very strong vicarious sensibility that is what helps you visualize
others' feelings in the form of first personal pronoun. So sweet poem !
