Peace of Mind

He was in search of peace,
Peace of mind and soul
He didn't know where to find it
So he tried it in matrimony
Spent wealth on wine and women
And visited brothels even
Made bid in racecourse and cards
Went to many spiritual leaders
Even searched it in mighty Himalayas
Yet mind and soul remained turbulent
And peace eluded him for long.

Disillusioned, he renounced it all
And in the lap of nature
At the banks of Ganges
Made out a small hut
With minimum needs of life,
Clothes, food and shelter
Inner peace led to external solace
Now so happy and self-contented
He lived forever there in peace.

So the peace of mind and soul
Is essentially a state of
Inner calmness and tranquility
It comes with a sense of freedom
When desires and worries wither
Without stress, strain or fear
And such moments are not rare
If you take a little bit care.

Even in your daily routine
You could attain peace and solace
Being with someone you love and care
Reading a piece of choice literature
Or simply lying in the lap of nature
And one should really learn in life
To resist cravings for recognition
To forget and forgive
To endure if you can't cure
To accept if it can't change
And more patience and tolerance.
