Come not when I am dead
Deep sleep or just a pretension
to draw a little of that divided attention.
Eyes wide shut,
He lies there unbathed, unfed.
Hands and legs clamped up
displaying his vengeance unconsciously,
to the indifference of his species.
Someone perceived. Someone cared.
Someone amongst us,
felt his angst, heard his plead.
And brought to him his dire need.
He looked up and smiled,
and thanked her with a gleaming eye.
When everyday brings a junk heap
of places to eat,
Why do we fail to satiate hungry stomachs that die...
