Love's Arrival

I knelt before the fire place....
watching the warm ash rise up to coat my hands...
The trace of incense I burned upon the last embers...
my little prayers
rose up to meet my nostrils..
inviting me away from
the cold.

My version of acquiescence
to the afternoon...
choosing immediately to dismiss
any thoughts of
loneliness.

It was lovely
this conversation with fire gods
coming to life...and sending up more prayers
to comfort mine own heart of true love.
Readying myself for my love's arrival.

I stared too long at the apparition
my mind bringing me to that place...
where all that could ever disturb
is the beating of the heart.

There in beauties of time...
stood this still imponderable man...
I am yet again awed and humbled.
Waiting for the kiss
that only this fire could consume.
I melt into the flames.

I stoke the embers that reach my very soul
and add the aged limbs of a majestic tree ...
Into this flame...
offering forth the musky perfume
of life yet again.

He is here now covering my body
and my eyes close
to reach with my heart
for his very essence.

I am in Heaven..
again ...in light...
in love...
in sound...With him...
my joy is reborn.
