Poetry wanted to write herself
but language went limp
with worthless words
so jubilantly she exploded
in the vivacity of spring
as wind she blew and crackled loud
in russets and gold, yellow and brown
I saw her sway in sensuous fluidity
as she winked among the moon and stars
With billowing clouds she gladly surged
at flashy thunder she gleefully clapped
then tumbled down from mountain-tops
and sparkled jauntily down to the sea
I heard her twitter in the early morn
found her captive in divine song
in winter’s icy moods she froze
with summer’s breeze again she rose
in beauty and divinity is she enshrined
with poverty and sorrow too entwined
a rose budding from a cracked wall
a beauteous blossom she ravishes all
