A Futile Odyssey...

  Searching for an enigmatic entity,
Thru the waters of my life..
In hope of an endless eternity,
I fill my days with chaotic strife.

A strange longing fills my heart,
I walk tirelessly to follow that goal.
Never realizing that the coveted prize,
Is to be found only within, in my own soul…

I walk on, and never let fatigue take its toll.
I go on, and walk further along the road…
But deep in my heart I realize....
that the gloom within is my most heavy load…..

I pass by a million milestones,
Always promising to rest at the next…
But the truth is I will find joy,
Only if I stop ; whatever the pretext…

For happiness and contentment and other good things,
Are not to be found at some distant, forlorn ground…
But in the novelty and the uncertainty….
That each new sojourn brings….
