Tear-Stained Memoirs

Thousands of innocent lives recently have disappeared
within the twinkling of an eye
Through an earthquake, a natural calamity,
that has painted our Gujarat with a sadness dye!
Just the night before, moistures from the nearby river
kept the coldness from the morning sun-
While the massive structures, filled with native dwellers,
were watching the moon for fun!
Waves of joy prevailed in the hearts of thousands
busy with rituals to earn their daily bread
But, suddenly the cruel earthquake leveled the ground,
and rubbles buried the human thread!

The hapless thousands vanished from the Earth,
along with the stones and gravels at that time
While the bitter memories haunt to hear the beloved's pain,
echoing through the winds' chime!
The death toll from this natural calamity
continued to rise and the survivors live in fear
And now, the sad tales of deceased
with agonies in a foreign land drench my eyes to tear!

Earthquake in Gujarat today has created
a havoc of destruction and death of our fellow mankind
So my broken heart goes out to those helpless thousands,
and their inner pain does boggle my mind!
Let us devote our efforts to wipe the tears
of friends and relatives affected by this toll
While we offer our helping hands
freely to soothe their agonies in a tormented soul!
Let us be united now and pray
for the victims of Gujarat earthquake in our own motherland
And erase the tear-stained memoirs written on dwellers,
structures and gravels buried by the sand!
