Heart deluged, mind in mode suppression
My richest feelings seek expression
Words drop dead before they are born
Sterile; of meaning robbed, of power shorn.
All mothers undoubtedly will understand,
Few others this dilemma can comprehend
Why no poem will justly articulate
Nor any voice truly formulate
The deep bond I share with you two
The best I can do is say "I love you."
My precious daughters, my life's treasure
You make me proud without measure
A throbbing cluster of joys and fears,
Shared worries, laughter, cares and tears
Holds us fast, one to another
Lets us breathe, does not smother
This special tie, this blest affinity
Transports our love beyond eternity
