Forgetting My Tune

Forgetting my tune when I wander about
In useless work
Your look full of rebuke
Gives me much pain.
The sky is high, the world is wide
It is so sweetly green!
I lose their touch, away they vanish –
Your look full of rebuke
Gives me much pain.

All the ways of this world are swept by this tune
When I roam about along those ways
They agitate my mind.
When I want to offer you a place in my world
I find none
I find no place to meet you in my heart -
And your look full of rebuke
Gives me much pain.

Translation of the devotional song – Sur bhule jei ghure berai kebol kaje/ buke baje tomar chokher bhartsana je – by Rabindranath Tagore. Best recording of this song is by Debabrata Biswas.

The original with its swaralipi or notation is at http://www.rabindra-rachanabali.nltr.org/node/3751
