Christmas in Tokyo

Christmas Tree.jpg

Each year we imitate the star over Bethlehem
And sing those haunting nativity songs
Remembering those days gone by
When parents were young and alive
When Christ was a living entity
Breathing miracles in the manger
And everything was all right with the world.

Each year we go back deeper into memory
Rummaging olfactory sensations,
Touching the almost hot baskets of cakes
And dogs salivating after every bark,
When the cathedrals resounded with eternity
Into the December frost of the belfry
And every kneeled sermon was lemon-fresh.

Each year we traverse afar
Looking for something we have lost
Through critical discourse, apostasy,
Or sheer loss of memory,
Now, it all comes back in departmental stores
The songs, the forebears, the cakes, the sermons
And whatever does not
Gets illumined with buntings and baubles.

Poem Comment Very good. Thank you for the nice composition.
Jesus Christ is living and so we celebrate Christmas.
This is know fact as we live in A.D.
But very unfortunate we can't get the glimpse of him in heaven today so we cling on his birth in Jerusalem. Hope some day someone will have the current vision of him in heaven before his return to Jerusalem on earth.
As I was pondering upon it this person will be of Israel as Bible is written by the Israelities though different persons and classes.
However, the question why there was no other person outside the Israelities for there were persons who had the vision of God too?
Am thinking over it hope God will reveal the answer or someone will help to solve this riddle.

Poem Comment Nice to see the photograph from a land where Christianity is scantily present. The poem written by you is very good which reflects thoughts of present day Christians.
