Between Could and Should

  It seems like yesterday,
But yet so far away…
Why is it that when something so drastic
changes the course of your life,
Nature still beholds bounty, ambience still reflects beauty,
And doesn’t hold a morsel of strife?

The clouds still sway to the music of the breeze
While thoughts within become so difficult to please.
The sunshine still brings a smile to the daffodil
While the warmth of the heart remains stagnated, becomes still.
The dewdrops still caress the freshness of the green
While tears collect and hazes the visual screen.

Flower shops still bundle roses to sell during the day,
While the heart needs a reason convincing enough to stay…
Togetherness and companionship still fascinate each other
What differs, is the role of the lives that brought these together.

Every minute thing brings in a memory
It haunts, attracts, allures and also has a query…
Does everything that happens necessarily be for good?
Maybe not, but that’s where the difference is –
Between “could” and “should”!
