A Thousand And One Butterflies
by Richard G. Bhanap

  When we choose to love
We offer up our precious heart
In exchange for those of a thousand and one butterflies

Some fly so high, their wings are scorched by the sun
Many are lured into a candle's flame in which they will only burn And
most others are blown far off course by gusty winds Never, ever to return

But if one fluttering butterfly, just a solitary one
Were to reach its intended goal
The taste of that most special blossom's nectar
Would ennoble, nourish and enrich our famished soul Forever...

But wait, there's more...
For on its glorious, celebrated, eagerly awaited return
Might this winged angel not be followed
By another's thousand and one butterflies
With the nectar of our own boundless love
As their most cherished and blessed goal.
