The Day It Was!

  Like any day
normal life started - schools, offices, buses, trains, rush hour locals…
The devil knew it well
when to pounce upon unsuspecting victims,
unscrupulous elements attack armless,
harmless populace brutally killing,
in cold blood.

Who harmed who?
Why this fanaticism?
Why squander public money
for heartless murderer’s protection?
Can we restore lost lives?
Can we rebuild broken families?

In a nation of noble ideals,
in a land of landless people,
we love to watch games,
we bemoan missed chances…
may God give us sensible mind
may we remember slain brethren,
for a day!

A nation watched helplessly
fearless policemen falling,
bullets sprayed in gay abandon
claiming lives of the lambs...
let humanity salute Mumbaikars
for braving the storm stoically!
