To those who have been on the stage, they know
how easy it is, how image is all:
role play is second nature, in the flow
of stage play, or screen play, beyond recall
unlike life, nothing is providential.

To those who view the play, there is at first
a glimpse of the unknown unravelling,
the players bespeak real things, actions or words,
they are real persons, through time travelling
in perfect sequence, viewers lives out-scaling.

Actors assume, quite undeservedly,
the aura of perfect destiny, lives
lifted to the roles unreservedly;
to themselves empty shells, the public gives
iconic splendour their demise outlives.

Well, call every famous person an actor,
whose role becomes identified with who
he is; the image can sustain the batter
of true-life scandal - to last it has to;
death makes actors of us all, me and you.
