Valentine's Day or 'Preeti Diwas' by Sharbaaniranjan Kundu

Valentine's day is here to stay
however much to disliking
may it be to puritanicals,
smelling Western culture in it.

Fourteenth February is about spring time
in this sub-continent.
What better time can there be
celebrating love?

India and Asia too abound
with stories of immortal lovers.

Let us superimpose Laila Majnu,
Heer Ranjha, Sohni Mahiwal
and Rami Chandidas
over Saint Valentine
and call Saint Valentine's day
as 'Preeti Diwas'!

All conflicts of cultures will go
and people will breathe easy,
expressing love to their beloved
on this day.
