My home is small,
too small to keep your gifts.
You have given me an ocean
to sail my paper boats of dream,
you have given mighty mountains,
though I need a small hump to slide.
All that I need are a few trees
for the birds to perch and build nests,
and what shall I do with the forest
aren’t these too big for my Teddy to rest?
I wished to light my little home,
and you have provided the sun,
the moon, the stars and lightning…
and the switches are beyond my reach!
In place of a tiny aquarium,
you present me the lakes and rivers
with fish – exotic and lovely,
shall I thank you for this
or curse me to express my silent wish?
My home is small,
too small to keep your gifts.
