Dr. Sutapa Chaudhuri was born and brought up in Kolkata, India. She graduated from Calcutta University in English literature and subsequently obtained her M.A, M. Phil & Ph. D. degrees in English from the same university. She has traveled extensively, both in India and abroad and studied briefly at Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan, USA. Dr. Chaudhuri has lived significant parts of her life in the U.S.A and Japan; and spent 10 long years in Gujarat, a place she considers as her second home. For five years she has taught at the Dept. of English, Bhavnagar University, Bhavnagar, Gujarat. She now lives in Kolkata with her daughter, her parents and scientist husband. Currently she is Assistant Professor in English at Dr. Kanailal Bhattacharyya College, Howrah, West Bengal, India.Her research interests include Women Studies and poetry. She is an avid reader, and a creative writer. A bilingual poet, she writes in Bengali and English. Apart from critical articles in various journals of repute, she has several books, travelogues, translations and essays for children to her credit.
Broken Rhapsodies is her first book of poems.
