Michael Knott is a South African of English and Polish decent. He spent many years reading pharmacy and history books at Rhodes University (Grahamstown - South Africa), and eventually finished with a Masters degree in Pharmaceutical chemistry (researching the medicinal properties of seaweeds). After a year in prison doing mandatory community service, he packed his bags and went back-packing for 18 months around Europe, Asia, and South America in search of something other. Endless drifting lead to a temporary yearning for stability, and at 30 he now founds himself partially living on a yacht in the harbor, while trying to run a pharmacy in East London (South Africa).
Selected as Poet of the Week on April 8, 2007 and again on July 20, 2008
