'Kallarali...' : Techno-creative Tribute
to Treasured Past

Based on B.L. Venu's historical novel, "Kallarali Hoovaagi" stands out for its technical excellence - thanks to producer Madhu Bangarappa who shows his commitment towards making a quality film.

Director Nagabharana has tackled the difficult assignment by relying on a good team of technicians. And the outcome is a landmark film for Kannada cinema.

Music director Hamsalekha has enhanced many sequences with an apt background score. The songs rock too and will definitely be chartbusters soon.

This is cinematographer Venu's first period film and he has done a remarkable job, particularly in the night sequences where he has used only source lighting.

Editor Basavaraja Urs and art and costume director Nagini Bharana should also be applauded for creating an authentic ambience.

The film, shot in the Chitradurga fort, succeeds in making Kannadiga viewers proud of their history and heritage.

Set in the 17th century, it revolves around a Hindu warrior falling in love with a Muslim girl belonging to an enemy territory. The film also depicts the conflict between the Madakarninayaka of the Chitradurga kingdom and Hyder Ali of Mysore during that period.

Young Vijaya Raghavendra rises to the challenge and delivers a powerhouse performance as Hindu warrior Jaidev.

Umashankari has also done a remarkable job. Unfortunately, it is her last film. Veterans Ambareesh, Anant Nag, Bharathi Vishnuvardhan and Devaraj also do justice to their roles.
