Suspected Kashmiri Militant Nabbed near Bangalore
In a swift one-hour operation, the Bangalore police Friday nabbed a suspected Kashmiri militant as he was alighting from a bus near here and seized arms and ammunition from him, besides sketches of important places in the city. A trap was laid to nab Imran, on a tip-off from the central and state intelligence agencies that a suspected militant carrying arms and ammunition was arriving in the city from Hospet by bus. On searching his luggage, one AK assault rifle, 300 rounds of ammunition, four AK 47 magazines and five hand grenades were found. Read On

Bush wishes Saddam Execution was More Dignified
US President George W. Bush said Saddam Hussein's execution should have been more dignified and welcomed the Iraqi government's probe into the taunts at the former Iraqi president moments before he dropped from the gallows. Bush spoke with Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki for nearly two hours Thursday in a conference call and voiced support for the probe, which is also pursuing how a cell phone was used to capture video of the execution. Former union minister Shibu Soren was produced Friday in a Jharkhand court for his alleged role in the massacre of 11 people in Chirudih village in 1975. The hearing in the case was adjourned to Jan 16. Undergoing life term at the Tihar jail in New Delhi for having his private aide Sashinath Jha kidnapped and later killed in 1995, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) chief was brought to Jamtara district under heavy security. Indian Navy gets Warship to Ferry Tanks
Terming it a "step forward to fulfill the nation's desire to indigenize naval ships", Defence Minister A.K. Antony has commissioned the largest tank landing ship in the Indian Navy. INS Shardul will add to the amphibious warfare capabilities of the Indian Navy. He also noted that the troop landing ship USS Trenton, which the navy has acquired from the US and which is expected to join the fleet this year, would also serve as a powerful force multiplier. Wild buffaloes are under threat in India due to genetic contamination by hybridization with domestic buffaloes. The entire exercise of moving them from one place to another took two days, with the animals traveling in two trucks, two boats and two palanquins to reach their destination.
