The Fall of the Interventionist

I have been an interventionist

through most part of my life.

I used to take pride

In conflict resolution.

All very well.

But it did me no good.

For in East Bengal

There is a saying:

The benefactor is devoured

by a tiger!

This means: The benefactor

Never benefits.

None of the confrontationists

would appreciate.

As if their prey

Were snatched away!

Being well-meaning

I usually found myself

as an interventionist,

a conflict resolver.

But I have had my fill.

I would rather make the confrontationists feel

their way out of the mire

of their own making.

I do not act the interventionist

Anymore.
