Road I Took...

road2.jpg

I came to a halt
at a road junction –
one, a eight-lane highway
leading to the city of wonders:
Malls, shopping centres,
zoos, amusement parks,
museums, stadia, aquariums,
Convention centres, opera houses,
Art galleries, and tall buildings
to dent the sky, competing with each other…

That highway I did not take,
instead walked on a narrow path
leading to not-so-thick a forest land
bigger than the biggest city park,
the rolling low hills are the slides,
the creepers are the swings,
and the forest brook is the canal to play.

A deer or two, as if in a zoo
ran from left to right,
voices of peacocks and birds’ chirrups
I could hear at a distance,
a few birds of different shades
flew making line drawings in the sky,
bees and butterflies hopped from flower to flower.

A brook gurgles down
and fishes swim and leap high and low
making an eye-catching aquarium.
Parrots, squirrels and a few monkeys
were eating fruits without hard bargaining,
soft breeze provided soothing air-conditioning.

Sage, I shall not become staying in this jocund company
but for sure, shall breathe life without harming any!
