His Kind of Paradise

What pleasure do you get
Prostrating yourself full length
Dear friend?
At this age
At this stage of your life
I wonder
How have you kept your lumbar
So flexible and fine!
What do you stand to gain
By groveling in the gutter like a swine?
Is it to keep yourself slim
Besmearing yourself in slime?

They say
Everyone seeks a paradise of his kind.
Carefully they calculate
Best of both worlds to get
But when by chance it gets upset
They are shocked
To see their dream world shattered.
I know it for certain
You'll prove them wrong
Those who think
You have learnt a lesson.
Like a shameless swine
In a moment
At your swinish act
You'll be again.
A dog though rudely rebuffed
Will wag its tail
And loll and lick in a while
At a dangling bone, though dry
For this demeanor
Seeming demeaning to some
Is after its own kind.
It is however
Amusing to find
Your amazing skill
And equanimity of mind.
