Twist in the Tale

It may be argued as a right
to counter aggression
with force.

But how much to the contrary
Christ’s teaching to love
one’s enemies.

When the basis of rightness
is survival, the enemy must
be destroyed.

Did Christ destroy those who
came to arrest Him
in the garden?

There was talk of that, and Peter
drew his sword and struck.
But there it stopped.

It might be said that Jesus
was letting the side down
He could save.

Instead, He gave His life;
by this sacrifice
He saved the world.

The twist in the tale
is that by dying
He rose again to life!
