Tit for Tat

Bit by bit the hill is cut. Was that its only fault, be close to rail routes? Quarried the stone but as gravel on rail tracks. Don't trees feel when cut, as we close our ears shut? Yonder some mountains spit lava on people's thereabouts... a la tit for tat.
