Night Visitor

The enchantress smiles
From behind night clouds;
Apollo's handmaiden
To all life Earthbound.

Weaver of fortune
For the favoured few?
Bearer of silver light
Or omen of doom?

How coy, this lady
Of the night and dawn;
When she hides from our gaze
A new day is born.
