Woman: Then and Now

Woman was considered by the society, as a goddess those days.
She worked continuously as a shadow of man, in so many ways.

She walked with her husband and became as one wheel of cart.
Even though field or home, the creativity made her body smart.

She got up early in the morning, to grind flour, prepare food for all.
Cut the grass, milking cows, she fed gents, ladies & children small.

Love, pity, serve & cooperate always remained in her practice.
Sometimes she became a queen of Jhansi, to fight against injustice.

There were no beauty contests as today’s, but she had inner beauty.
Veil rescued from bad eye of Allauddin, yet Johar¹ became her duty.

Now-a-days she has become smart, educated & earning hand of family.
Due to dual duties of home and office, has withered too much this Lily.

Caesarian child, breast-cancer and many diseases she has got as reward.
But she is walking & walking on way of progress, without care or bard.

She sings a rhyme to her baby and has dared to climb up the Mt. Everest.
Woman as daughter, sister, wife or mother performing her role, the best.
