Cover Me in Lavender

On rose petals dance for me, dance just for me my love;
beneath your feet, rose petals are what I long to see.

Weave long ribbons in your hair, your Titian hair my love;
gaily coloured ribbons are what I'd like you to wear.

Sing soft and slow in my ear, my eager ear, my love;
songs soft, sad and slow my dear are what I'd like to hear.

Cover me in lavender, aye, lavender my love;
in sweet scented lavender is how I wish to lie.

Lower me down beside you, alongside you my love;
lowered into the cool earth is where I wish to bide.
