Memory’s Melodies

From the hem of desire
I’ve stitched you
into folds of memory

instants, incidents,
laughter, joy, pain,
the fun and the fights
fluffy clouds pinned
on a retentive blue

I’m tempted
to pull them out
savor them
bits of candy floss
molten moments
of a sugary past

tantalising, baiting
waiting on the cusp
of today
to bend the tips
of tomorrows
into piercing
pin-points of pain

like pleats
of an accordion
I will crimp them
to play only
those melodies that
my heart notates
