The night was full of thunder claps
With biting winds and rain,
Pouring torrents from the skies,
The mountains watched in vain....

From the north rain-laden clouds
Rushed through the trees,
Pelting snow on higher peaks
As one by one did seize...

Nestled in their winter hole
The pheasants snuggled close,
Lending each their body warmth
As the dreary night froze....

Ah, the winter rain and snow
At last found its way,
To the hills of Nainital...
But my love is far away!
