The Spell of Silence

What is true silence I had not known till then
Unless I experienced it blended with aridity of sand.
How trivial is our existence having contemplated it only then
Amazed I viewed the sun sinking beyond the crimson horizon.
Darkened rocks and dunes outlasted many deceased generations
They have shaken their hands with our ancestors was my apprehension.
All those lifeless boulders, sands, have many a story to say
Questing for such revelations, I trotted down my chosen way.
Though nature speaks through quakes and winds, there silence dwells...
Amongst those immortals I savoured the ambrosia of death.
I stood among the sea of sand where silence materialized to swell
Mesmerised, yet forgot not to scoop souvenir of exclusive arid wealth.
