Pretending to be Strangers

All gathered at an event
Indeed for me that was
an awaited precious moment.
I was impatient to get a glimpse of you.
But lost control over my heartbeats
the moment I saw you.

Took control over my emotions
even though it was a tough situation.
It was my earnest desire to see you
so I made up my mind to enjoy
your presence for the hours few.

Became nostalgic and a desire arose
Wanted to exchange a few words
and look into your eyes, my image so close.
But you pretended to be a stranger
which made me more stronger.

Time flew, hours passed by
I too gave up and walked away
without saying goodbye.
Yes dear you taught me how to pretend.
Don't worry, will remain a stranger when we meet again
though impossible to forget that you loved me then
Still I allow you to forget and pretend .....
