Happy Birthday, Sister!

Though shy of about a year
In age to yours truly, as a sibling,
You are yet wiser and kinder, replace
Our dear mother in more ways than one
To look up to for counsel and what not,
And come to think of what I could give you
On your sixtieth birthday in your cherished life
But say my hearty wishes for a Happy Birthday
And many more such, in a full and bubbly life
To spend your golden years merrily with,
Celebrated amidst your loving family and kith,
And well, I am proud of your accomplishments:
Besides raising an enviable set of kids and grandkids
That brings glory you have longed for,
You still pursue a pious and charitable path
Helping the needy around you with an open mind,
While serving your partner with devotion
And aiding him in all his noble causes;
And what more I can write in praise of you
On your celebrated milestone of reaching your 60s,
When you are a poetess and scribe of repute yourself,
Touching many a Telugu heart in your time.
Sending God’s blessings your way! Long Live!
