Shrapnel

Extremists are demoniac
With umpteen ugly faces
Even mom’s womb is unsafe
From their demonical acts

What a painful nemesis
Of the Syrian baby girl
Born with a shrapnel
Lodged in her forehead

Demons are malevolent
Target innocent for pleasure
May God save her
Wishing her a better future.

(Wrote this after reading the news item about how a baby girl was hit by a shrapnel piercing her mother's womb in a rocket attack in war-torn Syria. Doctors saved her in a caesarean operation and appropriately named her 'Amel' meaning hope.)
