Fire

So true was this dictum
When some wise man said
That love is a fire
Which reigns in the heart...

It has been now ages
When you left behind with
A trail of the burning desire
And a fire in my heart...

Those who play with fire
Usually burn up into ashes
But the flame you ignited
Kept me alive and warm...

For the rest of my life
To live with the baggage
Of an eternal longing and loss
Yet a resolve for a purposeful life

With humility I bow to destiny
Of living with fire in the heart
It serves well as my punishment
As also an atonement of some sort.
