These still spring mornings – is silence
the hum of nature’s industry?
Certainly, they are being churned out,
blossom and bud, the scholarly
wood pigeon provides punctuation,
the blackbird tugs in the grass like
a carpet maker; nature’s shop
open for normal working hours.
