A Tribute

From the heavens, above, I thought
A voice beckoned me one day
'Akhiyan Udeek diyan' it said,
'Come, come, find me if you may'

And what wondrous tales it told
Titillating these senses of mine
'Ye Jo Halka Halka Saroor Hai'
Could this be what they call divine

So lost am I in its beauty
Its tenor so alluring and pure
Such magic in being 'Mast, Mast'
That I still crave for more

And to hear that indelible voice
I crave from day to day
'Sanoo ik pal chain na aavay'
Until I know what it will say

But even though I can hear
The music amidst the noise
I'll never know 'Kinna Sonna'
Was the man behind the voice

'Content yourself with memories of
A faceless voice you adore'
"Mera Piya Ghar Aya' Said God,
'So, search for him no more'.
