Asifa - I

It was all verdant and lush green around me,
Till it turned all black
Was exploring my way through the mighty hills
With my lovely horses on track
With azure sky above in its full expanse
The world was nothing short of heaven
Little did I know what was waiting
To pounce upon me as a dastardly act of few men
I had my way with animals
Till I realized how humans can out-animal them
I just knew I belonged to nature
Till they taught me, there exist Hindus and Muslims
I just wanted to laugh and dance and open my arms
Till they found in me a religion to tame
Was there any need for me being the instrument
To put entire humanity to defame?
Mother, what have we come to?
Why have you created such a race?
Is this the world we wanted to leave
For our progeny in coming days to face?
This was not the world I longed for
This wasn’t my cherished way to fame
I pray good sense prevails and creation
Vindicates itself to put all such acts to shame.
