Theme: Reverence

Dear Grandpa

As I sat looking at the busy road last evening,
I saw you approaching home after your walking.
I saw the sun that gives heat and light,
That tears the veil of darkness;
And then I compared them with your knowledge light,
Which helped us to tear the veil of unawareness.
I then felt the air around me
Without which life is impossible.
And I compared them to you,
Without you even trivial matters appear unsolvable!

I saw the flowers dancing in the breeze;
They spread their sweet fragrance and are selfless.
And then I compared them to your fragrance
That spreads good qualities without expecting anything in return from us.
I then heard the cuckoo bird singing;
It sings gleefully though it has a lot of worries.
I remembered you again-
You always appear cheerful inspite of your various difficulties.
Although it was evening it was very hot so I decided to go in-
When suddenly the sky grew grey and tiny droplets fell on my face.

It was just like being in your company
Coming to aid us when we are stuck up in the middle of the maze.
As darkness fell outside the grey sky made way for a black and white night,
I saw the stars winking and the moon smiling at me!
And now I compared the moon to me instead,
I am always relying on you who like the sun provide me the light of glee!
And then I went to the prayer room to light the lamp
When I saw the picture of God-
Your face flashed upon my inward eye again and I positioned you equal to God,
Who provides protection and makes our wishes come true.

The gentle, caring tender man,
Whose creative thinking is of no comparison,
And whose inspiration has always been the best,
And who has an answer for every single question.
This person believed strong in family,
Has always faith in God.
He is our friend who has taught us noble values
For it is inside his heart where we all belong!
