The Firefly

The Sunday evening passed off in glitter and glory
It had bouquet of songs, smiles and pleasantries
And to top them all
There was the dream spell of a firefly
Outshining glow of the full moon in the sky.

When I was losing myself slowly
In the glimmer of her eyes
Her intimate words silently closing in
Like the spider’s net
Impatient, she asked in pain and despair,
“ Should it end here all and like this?”
The unparalleled grace of her eyes,
The music of the heaven singing in her voice
Promised unfluttered submission.
My past was sunk, sudden and deep
In the depths of an enormous sea.
Promptly I replied, “No, No, No”.

Things changed like flickers,
Hours flew on wings.
Walking hand in hand
In the valley of flowers
She merged in me, and me in her.
There were roses all the way.

When she left on her swift steps
Like a deer lost in wilderness
She stopped and asked in a passionate cry
“Won’t you forget to come again?”
I keep standing on the way she left
Hoping to uncover
What she truly wanted to say.
Was it a promise?
That she would lead the lost nomad
To the assured peace of a permanent home?
