Soup for the Soul

  Dining out and dancing around
Became my obsession at an early age -
As soon as I left native land,
For a better life with a social page!

Virtue and vice followed me
Till I settled in the adopted land -
But forced me to dream
About making castles on the sand!

Sleepless nights and arduous toil
Still don on my mind -
When I walk along the memory lane,
I can always find!

Lessons learned from formative years
Took a different turn -
And taught me to be materialistic
To keep up with Joneses and earn!

Spiritualism vanished like camphor,
And replaced the feelings in my heart -
So I feel like a newborn me,
Staying busy with an eclipse chart!

Three decades have gone by fast,
With sands of valuable time -
So I take a pause to explore the cause
For counting nickel and dime!

From outskirt, financial joy hovers
To mask the agonizing pain -
But inside lacks the spiritual touch,
And cries out in vain!

Webs of wealth and despair run parallel
To reach the life's end of line -
Without knowing the verdant resonance
From the leaves of solitary pine!

Till today, love and affection from you
Have offered me the God's uplifting bowl -
And energized me with longevity
To cherish His soup for the soul!
