A Man with a Lantern

I was walking alone
Through a thick dark forest

My eyes had adjusted
And could even see the way darkest

You came with a lantern
And illuminated my way

I thought you had come for me
And this light would always stay

Soon I saw no trace of light
And there was no one by my side

Then I realized,

It was an illusion of mine
For You, I was only a passerby.
