Last Night

Last night when I saw you
My heart leaped once again
As if I was strolling
Through heavy rain.

Then our eyes met
Did my cheeks blush?
As if from the bud
The rose was lush?

I felt like a lass
Who was in her adolescence,
As if love engulfed me
In its glorifying essence.

My adrenaline was rushing
My heartbeats were fast
As if I was enthralled
By the surfeit of lust.

Could not take away
My eyes from you
As if you were
The fresh morning dew.

Felt like taking you in my arms
And never let you go
As if a desperate river
Has lost its flow.

Felt like staring at you
Hours after hours
As if I was drenched
By the first monsoon showers.

Last night when I saw you
I forgot all my pain
As if you have come back
To my life once again.
